I know its ugly... but... I've got a huge weakness for 80's jap blocky car design. Mk1 MR2 is a prime example...

Not at all, love a nice 80's Jap etch-a-sketch.

I would think unmodified examples of anything Japanese and RWD are few and far between now.I would go for it,looks like a good example and a future classic.

Not at all, IMO, but then I have a thing for 80s Japanese metal.

I was this close to buying one exactly the same as that earlier this year, but it had a manual gearbox.

Get it bought!

Nothing wrong with liking the above (I had a weakness for 90s Jap stuff - 200SX (S13) RX7 (FC) a few years ago - both great fun).

Early MR2s - lovely.

Not in the slightest...S130 from memory..1.8T, there was a 2.0 16V as well I think, although very few.

I think all the 1.8 Turbos were Autos as well....

Its not that ugly !

My first experience of a turbo was one of these, neighbour got an auto one, it seemed so hi-tech and cool back in 84, the feeling of acceleration was quite impressive back then, amazing to find one so original and not set up for drifty stuff.

That is proper time-warp stuff, £2495 doesn't seem like a lot of money, I doubt there is another that good, seems cheap when you see what used to be a MK1 Escort before it was Iron oxide going for 5k.

Do it, that is a serious if minor piece of motoring history.

It's ok, I'd get the next gen one personally.

Never liked the fat Americanised one much.

I attended one of those Red Letter Days Rally events a few years ago near Oxford. The organisers had 3 of these, but properly stripped out, roll cages and so on.

Fabulous fabulous fun! At the end the instructors took us out for a few laps of the course.... utterly bonkers but brilliant!

Go for it! biggrin
