ok, so some sh**te has a scanner and is using it to open the wives car and nick everything every 2 weeks.

first time i thought the chancer had just found the doors unlocked but the 2nd time confirmed the vermin is using a scanner. question is what to do about it?

getting one of the employees to take a bat to his head next time he tries it is already on the list lol .... have to catch him first though.

the plan is now to leave the car empty for when he comes back. other than that? change the code on the central locking?

thanks

would suggest some sort of motion sensing video camera pointed at the car . . . .dont leave it inside as it may get stolen

Leave an IPad 2 box on the back seat with a cat turd in it, extra points if you can "rig" the turd to "explode" when he opens the box...biggrin

I thought codes changed each time modern cars were locked in order to prevent this? What car is it? Could be a radio blocker (they have a 30 foot range!), which prevents it from locking in the first place. When your wife presses the fob, get her to make sure it's locked by seeing the hazards flash / hear it beep or whatever. If not, go back and lock it with the key. This was the advice that was given by the head of Ford's global vehicle security dept. in a speech I went to the other week.

get a camera in it and go to police?
wipe it down for prints then get your wife to wear gloves, and call the police?

wire a shotgun into the glovebox?
get your wife to wear gloves and electrify the internals?
some sort of nail type device in a spare seat from a scrap yard?

I'd get a camcorder and point it at the car if possible. I got one after having parking problems with neighbours and various threats to my car were made. Got a decent 2nd hand one for £170 with all the bells whistles including the most important thing which is a decent night image.

Most recent cars will be using a rolling code, so this scanner theory sounds a bit unlikely to me.

have you tried locking it with the key so they can't pickup the code? I'm sure I read this would work somewhere

well the op doesn't state what car it is or what alarm type it has.

perhaps go get a cat 1 alarm, prob won't stop them breaking a window though.

its what i thought.

its a year old 40k category car. so new enough. hes getting in and out w/o setting off the alarm and turning it off... or damaging the door, window thru forced entry. hes done it twice now.

cant think of any way to do this w/o a device.

upside is, in the mess he left he found a compartment and left it open that i didn't know existed lol!!!

What he said ^

Not sure what a scanner is, but sounds like the fob is being blocked and someone is coming back later to collect their winnings.
