Morning all,

Just a quick one to see if anyone can help or has any experience of this.

Purchased a new car 10 days ago, its 2 years old and still under manufacturers warranty. The main agent dealer sold me a '1 year additional warranty' I thought this wasn't a bad idea, as I'm going to keep the car a few years and it would save me the hassle of extending it next year. (Being from a main agent I 'wrongly' assumed it would be an extension of the manufacturers)

All the paperwork comes through this morning from the manufacturer including the pre-owned docs stating the warranty runs out in 12 months. I give them a ring, only to be told, the warranty I've purchased is not only £150 more expensive than an extended manufacturer warranty, but has less benefits and is a 'dealer underwriten' type thing.

I have no details from the dealer about the warranty, which apparently I should and feel like a right tit having fallen for this.

I'm guessing I basically don't have a leg to stand on as everything is signed and complete now, but I'm hoping some bright spark on here might know more about customer rights than I do.

Any help appreciated guys, live and learn I guess I'll put this one down to.

Who is the warranty he has sold you from, and what manufacturer is the main agent?

What make of car? Assuming you have nigh on a year of manufacturers warranty this was a waste of money - ask for a refund - you are inside the 14 day cooling off period, so should be no issue.

Thanks, will try cancelling. I knew it would be something simple I just wasn't considering.
