January Duty Rise Scrapped
Discussion
Given the picture of Doom painted in the Commons today im surprised its been scrapped at all. I said at the time of the Fair Fuel UK debate thing that i think most people would accept a freeze. Who knows what could happen by August, oil market might crash (its due one) and 3p might then become 5p again.

Have the prices fallen in the past few weeks or have I imagined that?
Yes, definitey down a few pennies, despite what the PH doom-mongers may say.Presumably the Chancellor can afford to postpone the escalator for the simple reason his VAT increase is at least making the price back up to what it would have been.

Not around my way. All the local garages have put their prices up three times in the last 10 days. Edited by Elroy Blue on Tuesday 29th November 16:12

I get the Petrolprices.com update and looking at the history since March when it was 131.9 and it peaked in May at 135.9 and now it is 131.9 again, thats for unleaded, not the cheapest and onbly one area, but seems to tlly with what people are seeing.
I know that I was the first to mention this but clearly we should be whispering, Mr Osborne may change his mind...Around me (blackwood) petrol has dropped from 132.9 at morrision to 128.9 and the local indipendent station has dropped 3-4p from 134.9-131.9
But deisel has creeped up and is now 10p difference between the 2 even super unleaded cheaper than diesel.
At least it will not be rises by tax and hopefully will come down again remember 2009 when it dropped to under 90p so it can happen.

I get those updates too, in the first 5 months of 2011 petrol went up by 17p a litre. It's stayed pretty much the same since. It started off 2010 at a level just 10p below the start of 2011.
If it continues along the same lines we'll be paying over £1.50 a litre for super unleaded by the middle of next year even without the Duty Rise.
