M11 south at Loughton @ 07.30 I drew alongside a vehicle transporter carrying what can only be described as pure porn (to me anyway). Perched on the top deck at the rear was the new M5 (F10?), gleaming away it was with its 4 tail pipes twinkling away amid the morning gloom.

There was something a little more interesting on the bottom deck however. Nestled between an X1 and a Burnt Orange 1M was a M badged Blue coupe, I dont think it was a 3 series as the rear light clusters looked totally different and the front nose cone and headlights looked thinner in height and the very tip of its nose looked pointy.

It had blue calipers and the M6 type of 5 twin spoke wheels, was this the new M6 poosibly?

Can't have been an M6. That's still not been launched. A 6 Series coupe M Sport perhaps? (but that shouldn't have an M badge on the back)

No the flanks were quite straight at the top and the rear too broad. I didn't think the M6 had been launched but then has the M5 gone on sale yet?

Wish I had my F'ing camera with me!

Forgive me if I'm wrong but this is a site for performance car enthusiasts (mostly) and the arrival of a new BMW M5 (performance saloon royalty?) is quite an exciting thing no?

jesus tap-dancing christ you're a miserable f*ck eh. i think the thread title is supposed to be taken in jest.

the M5 has always been a cracking car, you just don't understand what it's about, and what it represents.

not all of us fancy driving around in caterhams you know.

the M5 - the brilliant blend of comfort, practicality and stonking performance.

I love Caterhams (nothing in driving can be more fun than steering a Caterham around a track using the throttle - an even I can do it!), but I also love M5s (the best car at what it does and it always has been). Some people on here think they will be admired for claiming to be purists.
