My MR2's been nicked!
Discussion
Just went out to get my bag from the boot of my MR2 and it was gone. Bugger. Police took my statement but even though it's gone within the past ~2 hours they're not hopeful. It's a black MR2 turbo and it was nicked from Kings Heath in Birmingham. Reg K249 EJB.
Police think it'll go for parts so bear if mind if buying bits for yours any time soon. Just had a brand new aluminium radiator for a start.

Sadly, I suspect they might be right about it getting binned and wraped round a piece of street furniture or something like that. They can be playful when pushed, and given that joyriders tend to push any given car to it's maximum I suspect they might fall foul of it very quickly.
Either that or it could be burnt out, I don't think the parts market for these is huge in the UK as specialist suppliers are pretty well stocked with items and the cars themselves can be had for comparitively little cash (I paid £2300 for a FSH, near-mint 82,000 miler). If it were a Sierra or Escort Cosworth, then yes I'd expect it to be stripped for parts when stolen - this was exactly the thought that made me give up on buying a Sierra Cosworth. I came within inches of buying one this year, only to decide that I couldn't bear the worry and I'd be happy with the MR2 Turbo instead!
It's no consolation that I've just taken mine out for a midnight run to the supermarket, a journey which, by default, includes some delicious twisty B-roads and nice long straights of secluded NSL tarmac. The car was still warm from being put away after work tonight, the air was cold and tyres warmed quickly. It really was a joy, and for that I sincerely hope you get yours back as I wish you many drives of a similar kind in your MR2.

It was raining last night too - I expected them to have made it about half a mile! No news though so it's likely to be already in bits unfortunately. I'll probably buy another. I actually owned a Sierra Cosworth, which was excellent, but I think I might prefer the feel of the MR2.Either that or it could be burnt out, I don't think the parts market for these is huge in the UK as specialist suppliers are pretty well stocked with items and the cars themselves can be had for comparitively little cash (I paid £2300 for a FSH, near-mint 82,000 miler).
