Just had confirmation of the Spec, performance and the pricing of the Alpina D5.

Sounds very interesting to say the least

0-60 5.2

Top Speed 168mph

While returning a combined of 47.9mpg

Pricing Starts at £55,950 OTR

Spec wise the usual Alpina bits are on the car ither than that very copmparible to the spec of the 535d Msport.

I'll be most impressed if it can deliver 47.9mpg while accelerating from 0-60 in 5.2 or achieving 168mph. . . . . . biggrin

But you get a warranty with the Alpina, no?

Sorry guys i was thinking that a motoring website for car enthusiast might be interested in what sounds like it could be a very capable fun and economical car. We all know it wont do 40 odd to the gallon while doing 60 in 5.2 or 168mph but i bet it wont be too far off when we drive like we do 90% of the time.

I think that's extremely impressive given that my chipped 535D touring, E-maps, returns 30.1 mpg (to put it in some context that's on fairly traffic light B roads and not too much town driving), I don't thrash it around all the time either.
It's worth every single penny though as it's a great car and I don't think you can yet get good MPG on any performance car despite the claimed figures.
I nearly bought the D3 touring instead of the 535d but couldn't look past the low spec that most of them came with (very unusual to get Satnav and or Leather) and I think I prefer the look of the 5 series. I'd imagine the D5 will come with all the gadgets though as the 5 series carries them as standard.

Sounds great to me. If they do a Touring, I'll be very interested.

I get low 30s in the 335d. Which is a fair bit slower than that.
