My OH is looking to replace her Puma with something more friendly for our 1 year old Lab.

With the sale of the Puma, she'd have £5-6k to spend.

I'd love her to get a Defender but that suggestion got a firm 'No'.

Ideally we'd get something that has a gate to stop the dog coming in from the back.

Cheap to run and reliable would be good and performance is not really required.

I was thinking maybe Scooby Forester or Honda CRV/HRV

Any ideas?

Legacy outback, or forester are great doggy cars, optional dog guards available too.

Whatever you do buy, get a plastic tray for the boot if the car does'nt come with one.

Thanks guys, from those the Audi is closest to what she wants. 'But shorter and smaller' she says. The dog wouldn't fit in anything much smaller, she doesn't fit in the Puma anymore.

We have a small black lab.

She is very happy in the back of either car - a 3 series Touring or a 110 Defender. She prefer the Landy though - much bigger!

Our lab fits in both the Mini and the Tamora. Is yours a particularly large lab or something?

She's small at the moment but still growing (13 months). The main point is the OH needs to keep the seats clean as she'll use it for work as well, otherwise she'll fit in the Puma fine.

PS If your lab is going in the Mini or Tamora boot, you're a bad bad man. wink

wink

Seats permanently folded down in the Mini and as much room on the parcel shelf in the Tam.

That's what ours is like in the Puma. biggrin She just insists on getting wet and muddy before she gets in.

A key part of their value is whether the cambelt's been done. And the waterpump is prudent to change at the same time. That's a pricy job.

Even still, that seems a tad too cheap for the estate...
