The Christmas awards season has got off to a cracking start with PistonHeads earning a gong for best feature at the Guild Of Motoring Writers annual dinner.
Winner's silver platter put to good use!A more traditional setting and organisation you couldn't hope to encounter so for PistonHeads to be recognised in this way is a huge honour, especially considering this is the first time this award has been given to a story published online rather than in print media.
Pet portraits an unexpected PH sidelineAnyway, a huge thanks to The Guild for the award and to award sponsors BCA Auctions. Credit to Chris R for having the foresight to commission the story too. And we've even got some silverware to show for it, put to good use almost immediately at the award ceremony by your very proud editor. You'd have thought a bit more respect would be in order but there we go.

The story in question was the PH Investigates: trouble at the 'ring piece from earlier in the year and I was the man to accept the assignment from Chris R and immerse myself in the murky world of German local politics to get the inside line on what's been going on out there. And there was me thinking it was an easy way to blag a few free lap tickets. I even got hoodwinked into an impromptu photo session to take a portrait of a German chap and his pedigree dogs but that's a story for another time. Never did get any laps in either.
