Vauxhall Astra Error Code 218217

My other half has a 56 plate 1.8 Astra SRI and it is showing error code 218217.

Now this code appears to be coolant temp sensor. All the info I can find on this via google is in relation to 1.6 engines and seems to be remidied witha change of sensor.

I have been on the phone to Vauxhall and they are telling me that this sensor is part of the thermostat housing, now the cost of this is considerably more than just a sensor.

Does this sound right or are they trying to pull a fast one?

Yeah saw that one and that and the 1.6 engines seem to be solved with just a sensor and not the full thermostat housing.

Obviously different engines but because the VXR and 1.6 seem to be sensors only has got me wondering.
