Not discussing the relative merits of Garlick and co, thinking more about the mods you have made to your car that have been beneficial or not, my favourite was my remap, expensive, but it did make a difference.

So, Poly Bushes, suspension kits, braided hoses, induction kits etc, what made the most difference ?

Bracing stopped a lot of the rattles in my MX-5, and new suspension improved the ride.

Probably the most surprising mod was fitting a front splitter. I figured it wouldn't hurt to have one but didn't expect much, only to find it made a really big difference to the feel of the car, particularly with regard to stability. I remember driving home on the first day I'd fitted it and I took a 20 mile detour just because it felt so good smile

RemappIng it (although it is a turbo)

Poly-bushing the top engine mount - get a lovely growl through the bulkhead

Fitting a leather interior to replace the draylon

Fitting of decent tyres (although I have always fitted decent tyres to my cars)

Higher quality springs and shocks, a proper geo set-up and 3mm spacers on the front on my Tuscan. Transformed the ride and handling. Also high quality tyres, tailored for the season makes a huge difference, especially on a high performance vehicle.

Full 3D suspension Geometry setup, on my MX5 (both of them).

And yes, thats every year. Actually more often than that as I noticed it was out.

Yes - it gets knocked out through normal driving.

anyone who drives an MX-5, and hasn't had it setup on a Hunter within the last year/15000miles or so, is a fool, as it will NOT be right.

On my lotus, attaching the front plate with velcro so it doesn't break the clam if it hits something.

On my Pajero, a lift and enormous mud tyres :-)

Polybushing the front end of my A3 made a huge improvement with no drawbacks. Not bad for £80 and a couple hours on the drive.

Oh I do hope the backs don't get mentioned on my MOT this year, would be such a shame to have to do them too.

Do I need to inform my insurers ?

Depends entirely on the car, and what needs improving the most. A turbo car is a great blank canvas to remap, as you generally get a big dollop of power, and loads of torque across the range for a relativley cheap outlay.

Big brakes such as AP kits are a huge improvement to most cars, and provide immense stopping power.
