6grand. 60,000miles tops...
What's the nicest to drive, vw caddy and the connect are the ones I've looked into, as much power as poss (diesel power).. And ofcourse reliable!

Berlingo 2.0 HDi worth a look, Caddy with the TDI is pretty decent too.

Be careful with the Gross Vehicle Weight here, if it's over 2000kgs ( and some are that you'd never suspect) then it's 50mph on single carriageways, 60 on duals.
I got three points by a scamera van, so you don't have to.

ETA
I now have a Kangoo, they're sooo cheap to buy and run.
Liking the new Berlingo with three front seats

Valid point, my cousin got snapped doing 60mph on a single carriageway in his Caddy. His previous Berlingo was 50kg under the weight limit apparently and he would have been OK.

We use Connects and Combo vans, the Connect is larger in the back and has a better turning circle than the Combo, but the Combo feels much nicer to drive, whereas the Connect is a bit cheap and nasty inside, and is also noisier and just generally feels harsh and slow. If I had to buy one, personally it would be the Vauxhall.

I've got a 05 combo, it's hardly been serviced, had half a tank of unleaded in it and gets thrashed daily and only thing to go wrong is a new alternator. It's only the 1248cc diesel but goes ok and returns 48mpg.

Weve decided to go up a size and thinking of buying a transporter (8000ish) or contract hiring a brand new one. Wasnt aware of the speed restrictions... good to know! Although i prefer pootling around in vans rather than hammering them everywhere! i refused to be one of those van drivers haha!
