I should really know this but right now I have such a migraine I can't think for toffee.

So, can I still use my Winter tyres in summer............

I DID say it was a stupid question.

Wouldn't it increase their ware rate considerably though since the compound would be too soft and the treads blocks generate too much heat?

Pretty much this, but without the word 'considerably'. smile

Yes that is what I was wondering, basically I also thought that they would have less grip under warmer rain conditions for example as well as wearing away in a lot less miles....

SO essentially it's costing me lots to put on Winter tyres, then it's going to cost me another £60 to change them back again in summer. Ah well.

You can get all season tyres. No idea how good they are though(?)

I've just got rid of some old winter tyres. They didn't seem to wear unduly in warmer weather, but were quite hard and didn't grip well. I wonder if they go off quicker as a result of getting too warm.

The only additional cost of having two sets of tyres (one summer and one winter) is the cost of fitting and removing the tyres, because of course whilst you're wearing one set out you're not wearing the other.

You should be able to get them swapped over for £40/set tops. (Depending where you live I guess, but I'd consider £60 expensive.)

Even second hand alloys are so cheap these days, you don't even have to bother with steels...

Unless you want them for their advantages.
