I am looking for a new toy for a while and have been looking at various sports cars.

I have seen a really nice TVR Chimaera for sale which looks to be in immaculate condition. It really is a tidy car and its for sale at the right price.

So what's my problem? Well, I sold my Lotus Elise 111R 2 years ago and vowed I would NEVER buy another plastic car. The reason for this is that I like the paintwork on my cars to be immaculate (I am a bit of a polisher!) and every plastic car I have ever owned (scimitar, Westfield, Lotus elan amongst a few) has had imperfections in the paintwork over time... Its well known on the Elise and although mine was perfect when I bought it, over the years I could see imperfections starting to appear under the paint... I know from experience that a paint job is often short lived as the imperfections re-appear... just read some of the Elise forums!

So will the TVR remain immaculate? are there any plastic cars that have good paintwork?

I think most modern cars have some plastic body panels these days so I'm sure it can be OK. Whether a TVR will be, I don't know.
