Surely someone else has noticed or mention this problem, you look in your mirror after overtaking a Mercedes and there are these stupid, wobbly LED lights distracting you. Anything above 60 mph and these lights wobble like crazy, every Merc I have seen has this problem.

I am very familiar with how far Mercedes build quality and perceived quality suffered at the start of the century. But these flimsy lights are a joke, Mercedes - its embarrassing.

Another problem I have is i'm sick of reading adverts and coming across a Rover 75 CDT. Is the words "BMW diesel engine" compulsory aswell? The car is a pile of sh*t but at least its got a "BMW diesel engine" in it.

A final one, the red key for Fiats/Alfas is never called just the red key, its always, always called "the all important red key". It angers me.

Your contact lenses need tightening up.

The lights aren't wobbly as such, it's the refresh rate of the LEDs in the DRLs confusing your eyes as your rear view mirror vibrates.

Ok next time you overtake a Mercedes with LEDS look in your mirror. You will see they wobble. I am not making this up. Someone support me!

And it's never occurred to you that they're not wobbling when you approach a Mercedes from the front, only when you overtake them?

Do you think the jet thrust from your afterburner dislodges them or something? biggrin

They don't wibble, wobble or bobble. They just appear to as your car and head moves to a different place inbetween their strobing.

You will see the same on motorway gantry signs too.

Ok thanks for your response. Its funny how its only the Mercedes low mounted ones which do this though. Design fault IMO.

I hate these people that assume that because they haven't noticed something the other person must be wrong. To all you skeptics (and I get the feeling most here don'st even use their rear-view mirror) with all your pseudo explanations, next time, hold your mirror while looking and you'll see it has nothing to do with vibrations, then turn around and see it doesn't happen without a mirror. There's more to it than strobing, probably the mirror coating (you know, the stuff that helps dim mainbeam lights when you flick the switch) also polarises certain light (as with polaroid glasses) and the interplay between that and strobe makes for certain new lights (no longer limited to Mercedes) to appear wobbly. However, not many people seem to have noticed so far as it is rarely asked on the internet, and this, along with the large number of near accidents noticable each day when people unexpectedly veer or switch lanes right in front of you, often only using the indicator once already veering, tends to confrim my theory that these mirrors are just used as beauty accesories or for spying on the kids in the back seat.
