After catching the train into Nottingham today, due to it been cheaper than the petrol and parking, it got me thinking, and i realised that it was the first time i had used public transport in 17 years, and i'm only 35

Bus to school, about 10 years ago. I live in a rural area where there is one bus in the morning and one in the evening and that's it. Car is the only way I can realistically get anywhere I need to go.

I went on a train about 4 years ago. This happens occasionally if i have the misfortune of having to go to London.

A few weeks ago to go into Leeds city centre. It would only be a short car journey so Id rather leave my car at home than take it in, find somewhere to park, then get stuck in a queue on the way back out.

I use the train when either heading down to London, or when picking up / dropping off cars. So at least a couple of times a month

Just over a week ago. A train to London.

OP, is this the first journey you've made over the past 17 years where there would have been a cost saving?

The best way to get to the O2. smile

I was on a train yesterday, a couple of tubes, and a couple of buses too. Most days, it's all public transport for me.

ps: No prizes for guessing where I live. wink

Before I could drive.

I did look at getting a train to London with my family (6 of us) and saw it would cost £240 as opposed to £30 in fuel and free hotel parking so needless to say I drove.

Use the train regularly if going into Glasgow.
Cheaper than driving and allows for a drink.

Any other destination public transport is useless.

Last week, train into Waterloo and then tube to my destination.
I don't enjoy it, so I avoid it where possible!

In the last 10 years I honestly think it's been less than a dozen times. If it's a short distance I walk otherwise it's by car. Anything to avoid a trip on the expensive, unsafe loser cruiser

Is the tube in London any good?

I was in NYC recently and used the subway every day, all over Manhattan and at all times, even 3/4am. It was great.
