Nissan details Track Pack for 2012 GT-R

Circuit pack unveiled for latest Nissan GT-R

Nissan has revealed the full details of the track pack it promised when it launched the MY 2012 GT-R a few weeks back.

Visually, the Track pack (which adds £10k to the £74,450 list price of the car) can be identified by lightweight six-spoke RAYS alloys with gloss black painted centres, while inside the Recaro front seats are trimmed with blue bolsters.

There also no rear seats, while the front ones feature 'high grip' material to keep you pinned during hard cornering. Oh, and a 'Track Pack' emblem on the centre console identifies this model as a special GT-R...

But what about the hardware? As far as that goes, there are extra cooling ducts for the front and rear brakes, and revised spring rates.

The engine retains the same specification as the 'regular' 2012 GT-R, which means 550hp and 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds.

Where does the £10,000 go? In Nissan's pocket!

The standard car looks like a perfectly good road car and occasional track car. If you are serious about track days buy a 2nd hand GTR with a tow hook, a trailer and a Caterham/Radical.

RR-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrip off!

Love the car, but 10k.. come on Nissan, that's nuts. Personally I don't like the wheels, but lightweight wheels are expensive so I could justify ~2.5k on a set, but fail to see where the rest of the cash is going.

A great performance car bargain that's rapidly becoming very very expensive, the original list price was 56k!!

So let's say it's 20kg lighter in total. A bit more performance.

But holy crap £86k is a lot of money. No more the performance bargain, really.

I'd buy a 2nd hand one, stick some lightweight Recaro's in, new suspension, exhaust and a remap. It'd be quicker and save £20-30k....

Why bother to track such a heavy car? Unless you've got very deep pockets, as already has been said, you're better off with a Caterham/Radical.
Nissan seem set on ripping off anyone that gets near a GT-R and that has always @issed me off!

I agree it's a rip off, but isn't this what Porsche do all the time?
They get away with it from the name/badge rep but I think people who buy their "special" version are mugs too. Nissan doesn't have the established rep to get away with it IMO.
GTR owners can make far more track (and road) capable weapons through the widely available mod route for a whole lot less.
Will be interesting to see the take up/views on gtroc and Nissan sales!

Price wise, I suspect Nissan are doing their best to recoup the development costs. Al a Veyron, can't see how they managed to turn a profit on the first couple of years' sales?

Hi, first post, usually just prefer to read....

Who else in the world today makes a car that can do what that does for less than £85k?

0-60 in 2.7s and will probably go around any race track faster than nearly everything short of a kit car.

The original price was well short of what they were worth and it was probably costing Nissan a fortune selling them at that price.

Ive never loved the seats in the gtr, and these I hate. Oh s**t, they look so bad. Whats so hard about installing a pair of spg recaros, saving a load of weight in the process. This is the track pack after all.

100% agree - I went to have a chat with the nice guys at Alec Noble when the GTR first came out and people were ditching 911 turbos to buy one of these. Their consistent comment was that it was about £20k too cheap. Those do look like the Spec-v wheels but wasn't that the wrong side of £90k? Still a performance bargain and well done Nissan for having the guts to make it in the junior supercar division.

£10k extra, I assume most of that is on the lightweight wheels, which could almost justify that increase alone. The ducting and spring rates will im sure make it even more devestating on track.

I think £10k looks expensive because it represents over 10% of this cars cost. Relative to extras on other more prestigeous marques, I think it is reasonable value.

Except they were selling them for way cheaper in the U.S and Japan. They must have been making a profit on their UK sales?
