Late exit from motorway
Discussion
What are people's view on drivers who leave it until the last moment to leave a motorway? Well, not so much what people think of them but does anyone refuse to let these people in or is it just me?
Last night I queued for about an hour to leave the M25 at junction 28 (Brook Street) and watched as people merrily drove down lane 1 with their indicator on and pushed in to the queue as late as they could. I refused to let anyone in - I appreciate that this could be dangerous as these people ae then stuck in lane 1. But my view is, if you were in the supermarket and someone wanted to jump the queue in front of you, would you let them in?

Fantastic. pointless aggression always wins in the fight for moral high ground
king w
ker!" at them, whilst throwing stuff at their cars? It's not really 'pointless agression' is it?

I'm confused. If people were driving in lane 1, what lane were you queueing in? The hard shoulder?
I was in the exit lane. My point is that if there is a queue to exit a motorway which is barely moving, why do people think they are above queueing like everyone else? As I said in my previous post, you are in a supermarket checkout and are 10th in the queue. 4 people come along and decide to push in front of you. Do you let them? No, I don't think you would.

The death of 'merge in turn' continues.
As you were OP
That's not the same. Merge in turn - whilst not readily used - makes sense. As you were OP

The OP is on about people who exit motorways by doing a 90 degree left just at, or often, just past the exit.
Every morning I use a short two lane motorway. I would say 70% of the traffic exits at a junction while the remainder carry straight on. What happens is that the bulk of people leaving at the exit are in Lane 1. But you get a number of overly aggressive Thrusters who exit from Lane 2 down the outside of the queue! Now bear in mind that anyone queing in Lane 1 is perfectly entitled to carry straight on it's not pretty imaganing what happens when ThrusterMan GT decides to go left from Lane 2...
I understand the OPs point.
You're queing in the slow lane waiting to go off at a junction, someone hoons down the middle lane and at the last moment pulls into the slow lane and take the junction.
It's irritating for the people who have waited.
It's irritating for those who aren't coming off at the junction because the middle lane slows down and snarls up as people try and squeeze into the slow lane.
It's not really a 'merge in turn situation'.
The problem is though, if one misses the end of the queue it's not always easy to get into the slow lane. And if you have to push in, then it's better to push in close to the end.
Also, I know that a few junctions have 2 exit lanes a few hundred yards apart, there's no point in queing for an hour for the first one when you can nip down the outside and take the second on.
By not letting someone sneak in front of you, you are actually adding to the congestion problem rather than helping it.
The correct course of action is to let them pull in front of you, then follow them to their destination and fill their exhaust pipe with bananas.

And if they get it wrong, the consequences are mild tutting, not firey death. My point is that if there is a queue to exit a motorway which is barely moving, why do people think they are above queueing like everyone else?
