Fitting a starter button

should be easy enough to fit a starter button to actually start the engine, but you'll still need to use the key to disengage the steering lock so it would be rather pointless.
Honda Civics had a similar system, I'd always put the key in the ignition, turn it then wonder why the car wouldn't start before remembering that you had to press a button.EDLT said:

Indeed. Utterly stupid gimmicky idea with no practical benefit whatsoever. I don't see the difference between having it in an S2000 or a Corsa (except for the fact that you have no choice in an S2000) - it's still ridiculous.

You're welcome to your opinion. Lots of things have no practical benefit, people do them/have them because they want to.I don't see the difference between having it in an S2000 or a Corsa - it's still ridiculous.
So... As I didn't start this for opinions on their function, rather for examples anyone has of ones they like...
Feel free to post some details people.
Cheers
Indeed hence my initial comment being that it'd be easy to fit - it you want one, I'm not going to say you shouldn't.
All you need to to is splice the circuit that closes as you engage the starter out of the loom as it enters the ignition barrel and run it to the switch. You should even be able to leave the ignition barrel in parallel with the button so if something goes wrong you can still use the key to engage the starter motor.

My thoughts - if you WANT to do it and it makes you HAPPY then do it! Life is short etc etc. Then again they can be hard to fit and you could be opening a can of worms, for me I wouldnt bother.
Is it a case of you have done everything else you want to the car and you cant think of anything else? or is it an inner child thing about having a racing car with a starter button?

Ridiculous maybe but its FUN... its a BIG RED button saying "engine start", appeals to the 10 year old boy inside me - thats my excuse and im sticking to it! Surely a starting handle would be even better?Although with modern transverse engines, you'd probably have to poke it though the wheel to get to the end of the crank.
