Insurance loading on non fault accident
Discussion
Its time for the annual insurance hassle for my daily driver.
In 2010 some guy hit my old car and did around £1K's worth of damage. His insurance company admitted liability and they paid out in full.
Now playing with the online quotes and I just didn't update it for the accident and it quotes me £325. I update and it jumps 33% for my non fault accident - is that normal ?

Some insurers load for a non fault claim, others don't. Some do for some policyholders, based on their age and other factors, and then don't load for others. it all depends on that companies statistics.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter how your premium is calculated, so long as you're getting the best deal. Put in all your correct info, including the non fault claim. I'd rather pay £500 to a firm that loaded me for a non fualt accident, than £600 to a firm that didn't load for a non fault accident but charged more for my area of occupation or age.

Just been messing about changing details and I'm no better off with a non fault claim and total recovery of costs, than I am if I were at fault...
Insurance costs are crazy, 38 years old on a £600 BMW with 9 years no claims ( kind of ), no convictions and nothing out of the ordinary other than the non fault claim. I hate to think what its like for a 18 year old.

If all the different insurers are all charging more than you think they should be, then it's not the costs that are crazy, it's your expectations that are crazy.Insurance costs are crazy, 38 years old on a £600 BMW with 9 years no claims ( kind of ), no convictions and nothing out of the ordinary other than the non fault claim.
