Just saw this in the flesh and thought it looked brilliant, even in resale grey:

Huynday Veloster

Never heard of it, first time I've seen one, they look great! Looks quite expensive though eek

Look quite unique don't they, I've not seen one in the flesh yet. Haven't seen pricing - must be cheaper than the equivalent Golf or Focus?

They've been selling the LHD ones like hotcakes, if its like anything that Hyundai are producing it'll be a damn good car too. We get them from about March onwards I think.

It first passed me in traffic and I thought it was some kind of Citroën DS things (as I think they look quite smart), but I "chased" it to see it was a Hyundai. For a FWD hatch/coupé, it looks bloody amazing.

Though I see on the Hyundai website it starts at 21 600€, which is quite a lot imho, for that you do get a bit of kit:
  • 17" alloy wheels
  • colour-coded bumpers, mirrors and door handles
  • air-con
  • all airbags you can think of
  • on-board computer with aux/usb connection and MP3 playback
Only one engine, the 1.6 GDi, a 1.6L petrol, 140bhp, combined cycle: 50mpg.

I'd love to see a hot version of it, so it could be a real competitor to the Sirocco lick

Just did the same equipment for a 118i (though can't find the colour-coded bumpers), and got a nice 26 850 €, so 5000€ more smile. The 118i would be a better drive, if the owners would know what wheels are driven biggrin.

It looks good but I would never buy it for the visibility issues posed by the ever decreasing glass area.

Who needs visiability when you have parking sensors and airbags

Isn't this the Car with one door on the drivers side and two doors on the passenger side? Weird concept but i like the look of the car. Hyundai and Kia, have upped their game over the last three years or so.

Good spot!

I hope that for you guys they at least bother to transfer that door to the other side, unlike BMW did with the Clubman.
This looks a lot better too, the door is nicely integrated which Alfa and Honda (Civic) have done successfully as well.

It's already on the right side for the UK by default - the Koreans drive on the left.

It looks from the pictures as if they are producing one for LHD markets too, though. smile

The third door is changed for LHD and RHD markets. Personally I think it's a great looking car, much nicer than the VW Scirocco.

I think the last time they drove on the left was during the Japanese occupation.

yes Koreans drive on the right although often stray to the left if it'll make the journey a bit faster wink

I really like the Veloster. They are incredibly popular out here in Korea of course.

I also agree that the new models look a million years better than the older stuff. European designers and a bigger budget is behind that IIRC.

Really, I always thought they drove on the left! Why do you get so many imported RHD Korean cars then? Where are they from?

They ain't used over here, that is for sure.
I have only ever seen 1 non-Korean plated car in more than a year out here and that was about half a mile from the ferry terminal to Japan smile

I think it looks fantastic, although I'l less convinced by the side-view.
There needs to be a 6-cylinder AWD version to give it more credability I reckon...

Or a turbo 4-pot with around 200bhp, which will be more realistic imho.

The 2.0 from the Genesis would fit the bill perfectly, 2L Turbo 4-pot with 157kw.
The car is there, the engine is there, now MAKE IT HUYNDAI AND SHOW ZE GERMANZ HOW IT'S DONE!!!

Indeed. I can't see six cylinders being available in cars this size for long, from any manufacturer.
