Hi

Some utter douche decided to key the rear wing and both doors on my car!

The scratches are about 6-8 inches long.

Chipz away have just been around to assess it and are quoting me £300!

This does seem a bit high anyone have any input on this?

If you take it to a bodyshop (which you should) it will probably cost a bit more.

That doesn't sound too bad. £100 per scratch seems fairly reasonable IMO.

Incredibly frustrating though. Would love to key the faces of those that think this is acceptable.

Sorry to hear it frown

That does sound expensive for a patch up job though.

My local chap (in Milton Keynes) is first class and did two panels for me for £240. I'd bet that the job was far superior to anything chip away could've done. East Mids is a bit far from MK but if you want the details then just let me know.

Chipsaway are franchises so it depends on the individual franchise as to whether they are any good or not.

Some have been good, some haven't.

Quoted for posterity.

£300 sounds about right, don't use those muppets though.

If its a dark colour find your local person that does SSR (sprayless scratch repairs) will be less than £200.

Yeah ok, fair play. It was a poor generalisation although I'm sure a mobile chips away bloke won't have the facilities like a proper bodyshop to do a seamless job.

I'm sure they'd be good for doing exactly what they're advertised to do though i.e. chips etc.

I have a nice garage he can work in smile he seemed like a decent mature bloke. Not some monkey. Is there any comeback if the work is not to satisfaction?

How deep are the scratches? I had three on my black car, and got quoted about the same from a body shop.

Had a go myself using AutoGlym Paint Restorer and and Auto Glym SRP and got rid of all three.

You can't resort to violence because someone has scratched your car!!! Sit on them and call the police.

I can recommend an excellent bodyshop in Coventry.
