best way to drive in a petrol?
Discussion
Im used to driving diesels so know how to get good mpg with them.
I now have a small engined petrol, 1.2 clio.
What rpm are you supposed to sit at roughly to get good mpg? once up to speed i get in the gear that sits RPM at 1800 (obviously until i get to 70mph where the clio is nearly at its top speed haha)
Do you lightly press the accelerator until at about 3000 and change up or less than that or more?

Don't floor it in top at 60 and then complain that it barely moves compared to a tdi.
Snick it into 3rd, use the revs, then change back to a cruising gear. 1800 rpm seems quite low really.
Most smaller petrol cars (the common hatchback) will be at 2500-4000 rpm on the motorway I reckon?

Perhaps you should have kept the diesel?
Anyway my father used to get good mpg out of most things he had and he was always in top before he got to 30 mph
Wasn't popular with everyone else driving around him or with us as journeys took forever.
Perhaps search the forum for "improving mpg" or Hypermiling (spl)

My father is similar. He had an Alfa 156 2.0 earlier this year and never took it above 3000RPM, it got annoying on my first journey out in it with him. Now he's got a Bora TDi (90bhp), drives even slower and I can get to places faster on the Sinclair Wasn't popular with everyone else driving around him or with us as journeys took forever.

How to drive a petrol? Like the guy driving the 330 touring I just saw a Staples Corner. 05 plate Fiesta to his right with the driver giving it Mr BigBalls. BMW driver waits till the lights go green, gives it a second for Fiesta Chav Muppet to start driving, looks at me to his left, smiles, and then takes off like a bullet. f
king excellent.
