Yet another private plate question...

I am just in the middle of selling my private plate which is currently on a V778 retention doc.

The buyer would like me to transfer it straight to his vehicle if possible.

Does anyone know whether that is possible to do as the V778 is in my name and address and will not match the buyers V5 documents?

After reading V778/1 it looks like I have to sign it over to him as a nominee at £25 admin fee, this of course would then take a few weeks (maybe more with xmas) then upon receiving the updated V778 with his details loaded he would then need to take all the documents to the local DVLA office, then wait another couple of weeks for the next stage where then he would be able to affix the plates. (I am assuming this)

There must be a fast way as I am forever seeing instant transfer on plate company websites.

You will need to complete both sides of the form i.e. signing it to put it on his vehicle with his vehicle details, and then on the other side to add him as a nominee at the same time. Cheque for £25 made payable to the DVLA.
Make sure you have got the payment for it, as once it's assigned to his vehicle it is his legally.
