is it me or are all cyclists completely insane!
Discussion
Small rant for the morning.
Maybe it’s just Southampton but do people make a conscious effort to not have lights or high visibility clothing? I regularly leave for work at 5am and most nights I am back after dark.
This morning I start my morning drive and pass 3 cyclists in the space of 500m with no lights on and wearing full black clothing!
Last night on my way home same again this time 2 cyclists side by side, so lights wearing black. i beep them and all i get is them swearing at me! WTF! GET OUT OF THE f
kING WAY!
Its becoming beyond a joke now, the thing that pisses me off the most is that if I hit one of theSE complete idiots I would be the guilty one!

It's you.
1 out of 10 for the rant
Not enough profanity and has been done to death
Is true all MX5 drivers are gay?
PH Generalisation matters.
I do not think there was any need for that Swerni. You are just as bad as the original poster. I cycle a lot and also am a big petrol head. I always cycle without a high visibility vest but usually have lights. In my younger days I frequently went without lights as I was always short of money and weighed that up against the chance of being hit by a car.1 out of 10 for the rant

I think unless you are driving in the gutter and/or have bad eyesight you are unikely to hit a cyclist. There is an arguement that says the less safety features that are employed the more careful a car driver will be ergo less accidents. A bit like the removal of pavements.

true, though i agree to an extent, all the pavements around here are for bikes and pedestrians cyclists still use the road, whats the point of cycle paths if they are not going to be used? My comments weren't about the cyclists.
I cycle several thousand miles every year and despair at some of the other cyclists on the road.
My comments were more bases on
1. We have done this to death
2. Very poorly worded rant
3. Mass generalisation.
I personally go out light up like a bloody Christmas tree.
well someone got up on the wrong side of the bed.I cycle several thousand miles every year and despair at some of the other cyclists on the road.

Often they are no good to cycle in. For example, shared use paths often have really poor design, not to mention iPod zombies wandering all over the path, dogs

cant say i ever see nails or glass but i do wonder why some people walk in clearly marked cycle lanes.

Inner city cyclists... Hate em.
Cyclist does something silly, get knocked off, makes big fuss... It's the driver thats made the villain 99.9% of the time.
Then you get the "Oh we're so vulnerable," jibe... Well don't do daft things like jump lights, weave traffic or squeeze past 32 tonne trucks for crying out loud. You might bloody live longer.

90% of cycle lanes are a joke. They also seem to make you invisible, whenever I ride in one I suddenly become invisible to car drivers.I find it safer not to use them and to stick to the roads and make myself seen.
