Just been reading up on this chaps collection, information seems to be a bit hit and miss.

Some sources say upto 5000 different cars.

Anyone have any solid and recent info/pictures?

Seems quite interesting!

Google is your friend.

I think a part of the collection has been sold off and I've read comments to the effect that a lot of the cars were not cared for...

I don't think Top Gear has had a Sultan on yet - are you thinking of Jay Leno? Can't remember him bringing cars though?

Top Gear did exist before 2002 you know.

I remember Tiff driving some of the Sultan's cars before (or at least the CLK GTR).

I am well aware of that, I don't recall the cars being on there however but if you do then well done.

5th Gear did a feature on Peter Saywell and his collection (Carrera GT, Zonda, CLK DTM, etc, etc) - is that what you were thinking of?

AFAIK, the Brunei collection's never been open to TV.

Hi

This was the list of 5000 vehicles;

http://www.autospies.com/news/Sultan-of-Brunei-s-C...

And read the related stories of the cars found uncared for, interiors melting etc...

MBS does have a rather impressive collection. One I must see if I can arrange a visit when next there for the rally.

The chap on motorworld was the rainbow prince in saudi if I remember correctly. The SOB's car would never make it onto tv as it would have created a cival war with many of his subjects being not very well off.
His collection was rumoured to be in a terrible state due to the heat of Brunei and the cars being unprotected in warehouses. Steering wheels and dashboards all melted, that sort of thing. Some of the finest cars have made it out to be sold on.
