500 Abarth - would you rent one?

I see a couple of self drive hire companies offer the 500 abarth for hire, but just wondering how many of you on here would hire one for a bit of fun, weekend away, countyr lanes/B roads etc etc?

Not worked anything out as such but I would imagine along the lines of £100 to £125 mark?

I would recommend one as a rental having owned one for the last two months.

The steering is dire and the ride is poor but they are ultimately good fun, and seem to generate a positive response from both car nuts and "normal" people alike!

Your correct its electronic, and it just feels artificial whether in sport or not.

It leaves you with limited confidence when the roads are less than bone dry as I struggle to feel what the car is doing.

To balance my view a few friends have driven the car and don't feel its an issue. That said they all drive cars with e-PAS where my last car didn't.

Guess it depends on your point of reference!

I would still say go for it - they have to be more fun than most rentals!

Couldn't agree more - it really is the only major part of the car I don't like. Everything else is fab.

Its nippy, looks great, Can get 50 MPG, Great Stereo, Bluetooth, Air Con all standard, somehow feels special and still costs under £15k.

Maybe £50 - £100 per day. It's quite a while since I rented a car, but had a caterham for a weekend last year and that was £400 or so, and it's still around £150 (this is probably incorrect) for a days rental

i have owned one and to be honest there not all that quick. But ive also got a r53 mini cooper s which i think is more fun to drive. more power and better handleing and youve got the whine from the supercharger.
If your going to higher one try and get the ss model 163bhp rather than the 135bhp model.

Most hirers probably wouldn't be that into the finer details, more so is it fun, nippy, attention grabbing and something you can have a good larf in! Which I think it is, personally.

Another valid reason for hiring. Had a couple of people hiring the boxster for a "try before you buy experience"!!

Also seems the sport button makes the steering a little heavier based on reviews, possibly getting over the bulk of the steering issue mentioned earlier?

I hired a Mini Cooper S for a weekend a while back. Good way to find out whether you like a car or not, without the need to be particularly worried about being nice to it.

Europcar at Heathrow, for the record.
