Hi,

I understand that Nissan recalled it's X-Trails in order to replace the timing chain. We're looking at a used X-Trail and I wondered how I could check that the work was done - rather than trusting the dealer when he says "I'd have thought so"... would there be a stamp somewhere? Would Nissan know by the number-plate?

Thanks!

That was quick. How did you tell? What year X-trail are you looking at? I may also look at these.

I phoned my local Nissan garage! Very helpful they were too. They have a system whereby they can tell whether any recalls are outstanding (and by implication whether they've been done). It's all interlinked too so even if the work wasn't done there, it'll pick it up.
