Hi, I just bought a 4 year old second hand mini from a mini dealership and have a few concerns after reading the paperwork. On the HPI check it says Data currently on the National mileage register indicates that there may be a mileage discrepancy on this vehicle. It also says four keepers when the garage said it only had 2? It says an investigation has been requested by the garage i bought it from.

It was bought from the Main Dealer MINI so 100% approved apparently, just don't understand why they didn't say anything before, In the Guarantee litrature it says "there are no mileage discrepencies" but gave me a certificate to prove this although it doesn't ?

I can see where the discrepancy is on the print out i.e. set 9469 then 19000 one month later and then 14,382 a year later.

1900 looks wrong and is under MMR Check-Reg Date grading Customer ?

The other types of checks they have listed on the mileage are?

MMR Check-Reg ? (Perhaps what people say it is when doing a check????)

ManuRecorded Mileage

DVLAV5 Notification (MT) (Indication by a customer when selling and marked on sellers slip (only 500 miles difference)

BVRLDDisposal Mileage (This I think is at the end of a hire purchase agreement/ Leasing)

They can't always be relied on as 100% accurate, but that does sound a bit suspicious. Does the mileage on the service history match up?

As for owners, it may have been showing as a 2-previous owner car whilst it was still registered to whoever had it before you, but you would be the 4th owner.

If they dealership have done the investigation then there is nothing to worry about regarding the mileage discrepancy. More often than not is due to someone putting the incorrect data in, or linking data to the wrong car. HPI get mileage information from several different sources.
