If my budget is 5 grand, it's worth going to 5.5k for the ones that are lower mileage. If my budget is 6 grand, then the ones that are 6.5k are 2008, rather than 2007. If it's 10 grand, then just under 11 will get you the DSG box and full leather etc etc biggrin

Whatever model I'm buying, be it car or motorbike, I always end up in the next price bracket!!! I might take 2 grand off my budget and then start looking - that way I'll end up where I wanted to be in the first place laugh

Or when you search for ages to find the right car or bike, don't find exactly what you want so you compromise and buy something similar, then a perfect example of what you were looking for comes up for sale 5 miles away a day or two after, it's happened to me more than once rolleyes

think of it this way though, if you buy the car that is 1-2k (e.g. because it has much lower mileage) it will therefore be worth 1-2k more when you sell it so you are not really losing out - well hopefully anyway!

Shed and a bloody nice holiday?

You will remember the holiday, the £5k car you eventually scrapped?

Same here, it's always oh, if I spend 10% more I can get exactly what I want. Then if you dither too much after you add the 10% you find you're saying the same thing, so you add another 10%, and then another. It's exactly the same with houses (except the £ increments are vastly more!)

Citroen Berlingo Van 1.6

Ford Fiesta 1.3 Finesse

Toyota Avensis 2.0 T-Spirit

Going for the obvious first car options is an almost guaranteed way of paying over the odds for insurance.
