My car has been off the road for about 2 months now, and not been started / opened for about 3 weeks. It has been sitting in the snow for about a week, so when I finally got to defrost it, open it and start it today I found that the catch on the drivers door is not happy.

I think the catch is stuck down as the door will physically not move for the last inch of travel - possibly a frozen lock?

Any ideas on how to fix this? Car is a 1998 Ford Mondeo ST24.

And yes, after all that time, it started straight up! smile

Hair dryer ?, to ensure its not frozen. My civic does this in the cold weather. One day it opened but then froze again so the door would not shut. Hair dryer worked a charm - pain at 6.30am though-

Good plan, will give the a go. Have sprayed a fair bit of WD-40 in to see what will happen, will go and check on it soon smile

when you say wont move- the lock is in the locked position before the door is closed so preventing it closing?

Tried both originally, neither worked.

Just had a go with it again, the WD-40 seems to have done the trick as it is working now!

Thanks guys smile

That is right, but the lock inside the car that you can look the doors from the inside was in the open position.
