So here I am, sat at work in a mainstream brand dealership in an affluent city and I've seen a grand total of 1 person so far today!! Somebody please come n buy something, there's only so much drooling over the PH classifieds I can do in one day! Anyone else in this game? How are you finding it?

True, everyone is now price price price!! We're currently offering 0%, every dealership can do 0%, it's just a case of whether they are willing to pay the subsidy that the finance companies charge us!

Same boat here in Central Scotland, though we have had one family here today, but for the size of the dealership it really is dire, I've exhausted my call list for the month too so actually have nothing to do, and miles from this month's "attainable target"

And pay full list price? You're normally way better off having it at a 'cash price' and have normal HP at a nice low rate.

Op, I'm in the trade, off today but yesterday was painful and I suspect it will continue that way until January.

Start picking up orders for March delivery. We normally do anyway.

Yeah I really don't think anybody is fooled with Vauxhall's advertising, they aren't doing very well from it because customers like to feel they're getting a good deal and list price isn't that!

January has always been good here (Apparantly. I started here in September) and the prospects I've got for the new year look extremely promising, fingers crossed!

Exactly the same here, havent seen anyone today bar, had 1 phonecall, yesterday was not much better. Although we were productive and sorted out our used line and cleared the snow off them. Thankfully I'm off for most of next week, unfortunately I'm in most of the week between X-mas and new year.

I predict there is going to be a lot of changes over the next few months in the car trade, and I know of a few imminent ones that will affect me personally too.

Never easy this job. Lol

advise your bosses to offer a new limited-period only deal, "people, buy a new car today and we'll give you 2k for your old car (more than 10yrs old) and we'll scrap it for you,, its our new scrappage scheme"!

Your kidding yourself if you think Vauxhall are not doing well from the 0% finance deal, and cars are still discounted from list price with 0%. Its not a case of pay full list to get 0%. Its not like marketing programmes of old where you can have 0% but you don't get any other discounts.

Same with us, deathly quiet (Fiat and Alfa). I've even resorted to taking the weekend off, getting to target is a million miles away this month so its time to write this month off, make the most of it and start afresh in the new year. January can be a fruitful time for car sales IME.

I know of a few garages packing in early next year....the golden goose that is the internet has depressed margins so much they cant make it pay.
