Ok so I'm prepared for lots of conflicting opinions but as the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 come in at about £20 a corner cheaper than Continental Sport Contact 3's in 235/45 R17. I am considering them as I need to replace all 4 on the A4 2.0TFSI that I have just bought as 2 are worn close to the limit and the front pair were recently replaced by the owner with a budget brand I have never even heard of so I want to get shot of these.

I have budgeted for the more expensive tyre but wondering if they are really worth the £80 extra?

While I'm at it does anyone know of any current blackcircles discount codes?

Thanks

The S1 Evo is the better of the EVO range, the V12 didn't do so well in the 2010 EVO tyre test:

That said, Hankook are a decent brand, and of all the "non premium owned" midranged manufacturers they're the ones most feared by the likes of Continental, Goodyear etc.

I've a feeling a Fulda SportControl is probably an equally good, if not better tyre and you might find it's a little cheaper again.

For an £80 saving I'd take the Conti's. Having said that I did use Hankook's before and had no complaints.

I've got a set of V12's on the Mondeo, and am very happy with them. The fronts are due for replacement, but are still dealing well with the rain and cold this week.

Oh, and unless you really want an AO tyre or something, I'd suggest trying to find the Sport Contact 5 or the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2.

Thanks, not worried about getting an AO tyre I just want to get a decent tyre that wont take you off the road at the first sign of ice or rain. On blackcircles there is only are couple of quid difference between the AO tyes conti 3's, standard conti 3's and the conti 5's

The difference is slightly higher (£160 now) than I first worked out as well as the wheels are 18" rather than 17", I just went on autopilot and the blackcircles website and somehow convinced myself that they were 17's.

+1 Having handed back my old company car with F1 Asymmetric 2's all around to a new vehicle shod with Conti Sport contact 3's all round I wouldn't put my own money into the conti's! Wheel spin central on cold mornings!

I have Ventus V12 Evos on my daily driver and I can't say I have found any problems with them grip wise. Can't really comment on the wear as they have only been on there a couple of months.
They may be slightly noisier than the Bridgestones they replaced but at about £30 a corner cheaper that is ok by me. Or it might just be that I am forever driving in the rain at the moment.

I used to put Hankooks on my old V6 Mondeo and they were fine. Lasted well. You get what you pay for, better than the cheapo tyres, not as good as some of the better branded ones. I wouldn't fit them to a high end sports car but they're fine for most.
