3rd party car insurance to drive any car
Discussion
Anybody got any decent ideas...
I current have 2 insurance policies, both full comp, but because both are now with specialist insurers/brokers (Locktons and Competition Car Insurance), I am no longer able to drive other people's cars even just third party. This is an nuisance because I sometimes (few times of years max admittedly) have to drive either my parents', or P.I-L cars or even chauffeur my grandparents around in their car or even friends' cars if it is decided that I am the designated driver for the evening.
Ruled out options:
1. Change one of my insurance policies to another provider - just tried that with my main insurance but would add c.£500. So way too much.
2. Go onto other people's car insurance policy. Again, too costly and time consuming.
3. Arrange taxi's all the time rather than driving. Too inconvenient!
I would love to take out a policy which would allow me to drive other people's cars 3rd party but wouldn't cost the earth as I would only need it about a 5-10 times a year, max!
Thanks

if it really is only 5-10 times a year day insurance might be the way to go.
Depending on the car and your history £15-£20 per-day should cover it and that will be fully comp just in case something nasty does happen. Don't rule out being hit by someone else, insurance companies deciding to go 50/50 and you are out of pocket on DOC third party.
