Worst car your folks had...

Following on from the other thread what was the worst car your folks had. Which was the one that you would rather walk then have them take you, and you cringed when they picked you up.
For me it was a old Vauxhall Carlton estate. In itself a nice car, but it was a really strange pea green colour! I can't find any the same colour on google, I'll try elsewhere....

I believe my mum had one of these at one point, I don't really remember much about it, just that even back then there was very little room in the back.

My mum had a pale metallic green Montego estate, and IIRC a beige Marina before that.

First brand new car my Dad bought, to replace ageing Anglia 105E.

Within 6 months it needed a full respray as the sills had rotted through. It didn't get any better and he sold it on a few months later. Shocking.

Mid 70's hillman hunter ,what a hideous beast .thankfully it didn't stay for long ,the rust started coming through within 12 months !

Mum had a Metro Vanden Plas - it had NO redeeming features.

It was a bit of a shock after a string of nice motors - the late 80s recession bit them hard.

my Dad had a beige Montego, it really was dreadful

Old man had one of these, in a similar colour. Not the one in the pic it never looked that good. 1.7l Austin Ambasador
The Vauxhall Viva he had before this was better, but not much. Then there was the POS Hyundai Stellar that had more rust than paint.

JRG Maestro, automatic with a st brown velour interior.

My mum had a lovely Granada at the same time but had to sell it. She has never forgiven me for letting her buy that hateful, hateful vehicle, it was only because my nan made her buy it.

I thought every car my parents had was great, especially as quite a lot of my friends used to have to get the bus everywhere.

Having said that, my mum did also have pre-Maestro/recession triumphs. As a successful estate agent in the late 1980s she also owned a bright red E30 325i

In my opinion the worst car my folks ever had was an 1983 Vauxhall Nova saloon in white.



They reckon the worst one they ever had was a simca 1000, as it was unreliable and had pretty harsh suspension (they had a citroen before it)
