Ford Dealer Service Check?
Discussion
Looking at buying a second hand Ford, which I know has been serviced at a main dealer (although I don't know exactly which).
I'm just wondering if my local Ford dealer has access to the details of those services etc and also any other work it might have done (and would they share it with me, more to the point)?
Also, is it possible to find details of any accidents other than category markers - I'm guessing HPI doesn't cover anything minor?
Thanks in advance!

HPI checks only show up incidents where the car has been written off. Cat Cs and Cat Ds can be bought back off the insurance company by the owner and repaired at the owners responsibility.
If the service book has stamps in it these stamps should have contact details of the garage. If it does then they shouldn't mind giving you details of the service if you just explain that you're thinking about buying the car but wanted to check it's service history.
I did the same with a Seat that had been serviced at a VW garage and they didn't mind me checking.

Cheers Dan - I didn't have the servicing dealers name etc when I posted my original message (and wasn't sure I could get it from the trader today). I've since got it and confirmed the servicing is as described - however I also confirmed that Ford dealers don't share service records across the network, only within their group (not sure whether I was naive to think they would).
HPI is clear for finance and accident markers too.
Chappy doesn't seem too keen to do a deal though, he's only willing to knock off 3% on a nearly 9k car which hasn't been fully prepared (no valet, few bits of damage etc) and is claiming that at the reduced price it has no warranty, despite being a trader?

OP, if as you say he is a trader, then he must offer a warranty.. (not sure what the minimum requirements are though) It is a Ford, there will be many more out there, to be honest, I would walk away if there were any doubt.
As an aside, a lot of dealers now submit service & repair information to Ford via an overnight data extraction routine, do not be surprised if the staff have no knowledge of his as it is very transparent. What Ford do with this I have no idea, but someone, somewhere, at Manufactaurer level will know. whether dealers have access to this is highly doubtful though.
Good luck.
