Traffic on Christmas Day?
Discussion
Avoid towns and villages between 11am and 3pm (pubs and pre-christmas meal drinks)
Avoid scenic/walking areas (woodland walks coastal areas) from 4pm
Other than that great times and progress can be very quick even staying within the speed limits
Christmas day 1991 2pm (finished my shift)
97 miles
Dinner at the parents was at 3.30 pm
I was early (that's actually a first)
STD PH Disclaimer - Miles converted from KMs and non of the journey was on UK roads

F'ing early BTW
I've worked the majority of Christmas days for the last 10 years. From experience, roads are really enjoyable for the first part of the day, up until about 10 or 11am when the 'ordinary' people start venturing out, either to visit relatives or going out for dinner.
By lunchtime the traffic's as it would be on any weekend, and that continues through till quite late in the evening as people travel home again.
For a Christmas hoon, get out early and back early, would be my advice

The main roads are normally pretty quiet, I was forced into visiting the inlaws a couple of years ago, I was hoping for traffic to delay the inevitable, but had to resort to stopping for petrol and checking tyre pressures, cleaning screen etc on the way, and then trying to see If I could keep the fuel consumption below 10 litres/100km in the jeep
Crimbo day it's definitely pretty empty. Especially towards the evening when everyone is wasted. Same for Crimbo Eve and Boxing day in my opinion. I've been out and about on my old bike a few years back (Stupidly whilst it was icy out, I must add...) and the roads were great fun for a hoon
I did get stuck down a friend's cul-de-sac on the bike, and had to get him to come out and help me push the bike out down his whole road as it was just a massive sheet of ice, and I didn't fancy dropping it.. again..
