Just as the topic title says.

One of the best noises I have heard when a car is idling is the Mercedes C63 AMG,

I don't know if it is just my laptop speakers, but that sounds horrific. Like a marble in a tin can, and then after 2mins (when it's warm) it sounds like the Mk3 Golf across the street trying to start on a cold morning.

Makes the AMG C63 sound totally anaemic

I would nominate Charlie Broomfield's V12 SD1, but I can't find a decent video.

Aston Martin V600 le mans edition, it is an absolute monster even sat at rest, let alone when foot down, the twin superchargers whining away is just amazing...

A burbling American musclecar circa 1970 with a big block V8, lumpy cam and straight through pipes please.

There is no substitute. cloud9

No, that's what it's meant to sound like. I think it sounds awful too, but I think it's a culturally acquired taste.

I was next to a Tuscan at a set of traffic lights the other day, sounded great just sat there, then it went off with a roar. Excellent.
