Seems to be a complete free-for-all these days. However, if you're a certain demographic that I appear to fit very well into, you will find that the Admiral group (Admiral, Bell, Elephant) are consistently at least half the price of other insurers.

I am old and sensible now, however in my yoot the Elephant 10-month "bonus accumulator" policies were a cheap and quick way to build up NCB.

Make sure he adds a couple of older relatives as additional drivers on the policy, preferably females. Even if they never drive the car it should save him a few hundred pounds.

I never got particularly cheap quotes off Bell/Admiral/Elephant, they always gave a more expensive quote when you went direct instead of through a comparison website too.

Get as many quotes as you can from as many places as you can.

We had this trouble with step daughter, added her mother and my self 1st year to bring it down, that was on elephant 10 month bonus accelerater, 2 nd year was dearer with the mother and me on so swapped about takin us both off and then adding 1 at a time to see the comparison, seems im less of a risk than the mother cuz it was higher with just her on it compared with just me.......

And just for more oddness shes 14 yrs older than me..... so more clean yrs of driving etc. Also what i found strange was it was a little cheaper parked on the road than if i stated it was on the drive.

Insurance the mind boggles

Bell always came up as cheapest at that age (and still do)

Usual tactics:
Use comparison sites and phone the cheapest insurers
Get quotes from insurers not on comparison sites
Try multi car policies

Policy wise:
Add old relatives
Try different variations of your job title
Change where it is kept (road is often the cheapest)
