It was on axle stands at the time.

Fully comp with business use which I also need. Im an architectural technician which is a skilled trade which means lower insurance and I live in the middle of nowhere so a low risk area.

And telling me to die isn't the friendliest reply I have had from a car forum, also considering this my first post and reply.

VW Golf GT TDi? Pretty much a GTi underneath but with a diesel engine, so you should get upwards of 35MPG even when thrashing it.

My car does 0-60 in 6.4 seconds with 160bhp..... But weighs 850kg!

I would suspect that the £900 insurance would be because the turbo and remap are not declared to the insurance imo, but thats upto the OP to choose if they want to do that or not.

As for suggestions, do you want reliable or something to tinker with as well as drive? I would suggest something light with a big engine like a caterham or if you can insure it, a hatchback with a big engine conversion but I think at 19 you would be crippled by anything "quick" when you have points as well.

So realistically it's irrelevant as next september the price and value will have conpletely changed in your equation.

But a 330d BMW of some description might work.

I've no idea how your insurance premium is so low, so stick with it until your points are 'spent,' save your money up and then get some serious metal (Elise, M3 etc.) when the time comes. I'm 20 with 3 points driving a car worth £1K and saving up until my points can be removed from my licence for something worth it.

I have a pure hatred for golf! Sorry I really dislike them! My personal opinion.

I need to use it for work, so travel, not tinker my mechanical knowledge isn't amazing. I would prefer a hatchback.

Techniacian as in CAD technician, training to become building surveyor. 3 years into my training and I'm 19 as said above 20 come February. (I work in residential building design, as in designing extensions/improvements and repairs)

had my license 9 years but only just started driving again this year after a 7 year break. Im a merchant navy engineer, which is also a skilled trade, no points and also live in middle of no where (hence need for a car again), car is garaged and sdp only and I pay that on a 12yr old standard 1.3 fiesta!

But back to your post, I did a quote on a civic type r fn2 the other day and came in cheaper than my fiestas insurance, now thats a joke! but may be worth a look. can pick them up for 6/7 grand

Reason I want rid of the focus is I think it's ugly as hell old persons car and there is little to be done with a non st/rs of which looks it improves it's blandness. It's also puffing a hell of a lot of smoke so I feel it maybe dead soon :/ has a good 90k miles and it has been used and abused. Hasn't been neglected but I just hate the damn sight of the thing!

Yup. Under 8 seconds by my measurements.

You drive a diesel, 0-60 is pretty pointless. If you want to brag, try 30-70.
