What car for my dad

Hi guys,
My dads company car (mk6 golf 1.4 tsi) goes back in a few months and he's looking to buy something to replace it. He already has an XC90 for family duties and a motor home for even more family duties. The golf very rarely took his twin 6 year olds in so he doesn't really need the practicality anyway
He's made a small list of things which are all fairly different, but has no idea what will be the most fun. He competes nationally in Hillclimb in a single seater so appreciates a good handling car (has had Elise's in the past)
Most of his fuel is paid for so that's also not a worry, but that doesn't mean big engines are allowed, I think 3 litre is the limit
He absolublty loved my Clio 197 cup, and would of bought that if I'd not already sold it, but he's ended up looking at the new Megane Sport but they are still a few grand over budget.
He is not interested in a 1990's Mercedes or a classic BMW (Awaits the "why spend 12k on a hot hatch" parade) and it needs to be reliable with reasonable running costs, so no Porsche 996's etc

BMW Z4C (Not M)
VW Scirocco
Seat Leon 2.0T
Audi TT, 2.0
That's pretty much the short list, he just wants something pretty nippy and chuckable, I can't help but keep suggesting the Megane simply because I loved my Clio..

If he's buying it with a company opt-out allowance, we need to know what the rules are.
My last employers had some very strict rules, which meant you could really only run the kind of stuff on the car list.
ie. 4 or 5 door hatch / saloon / estate (ie. no 3-door hatches or coupes), under 3 years old at the point of purchase and under 6 years old whilst using it on company business - and the fuel payment meant you'd only break even if you were doing 35mpg.

Yes, but if he's handing back a company car, is it because he no longer qualifies for one, or because he's being paid a cash alternative by the business?If it's the latter, they have a say in what you buy.

He's had it 3 years and it's on a company lease, so it's going back.If it's the latter, they have a say in what you buy.
I've not spoken to him about the 'who's cash' it is but im fairly sure it's his cash, I'd assume the company are upping his salary a little

The other thing that throws a spanner into the works here is that commuting fuel is a taxable benefit if the company pay it.
