DVLA in the Dock.

Noticed with the recent issue of "11" plates the DVLA are almost condoning the mis representation of plates. Cant help but think the " Do not mis represent your number" warning is *ollocks , I think DVLA speak with forked tongue?.

They keep behind ones that can have dodgy spacing to sell for higher prices, so yes, they know about it, but if you get caught 3 times, they have the plate back to sell again.

This has been debated quite a bit already on some of the numberplate threads. I have to say, if they are charging a fortune for a plate that is only possibly any good with the judicious use of an extra screw or mis-spacing then it's very hard to put forward an argument against your observation.

Yeah they should have skipped 11 - with a black dot it can be made into an H. They should have gone straight onto 12! No wait.... with a bit of dodgy spacing that looks like an R...

They should have skipped 11 and 12 and gone straight onto 13! Oh.... now its a B...

Forget 11, 12 and 13 - 14 is what they should have gone for. Except with a yellow dot it can be made into an H.... which is pretty much the problem with the 11.

In short, fkwitts will always mess about with their number plates, irrespective of DVLA instructions.

Are you sure they can re-sell it?

I thought a number was cancelled, never to be re-issued, if it was confiscated.

Fair point, does any intelligence exist which shows the number of plates the DVLA pulls back in ?, noticing the hacked stuff on show they must pull a pile back in .

dunno, but most of the 11 plate cars round here seem to start DU11, just about sums it up really...

I used to own a car with C11NT as the numberplate....it was a Mondeo ST200. Plate belonged to the seller and gave it back to him two weeks later after paperwork was sorted.........needless to say I adjusted my driving to suit the plate!!! Last thing I knew he'd put the plate on a BMW......this was 7 years ago roughly.

That particular combination wouldn't have been sold.
Year letter / 1-999 / 3 letters for the older style plates.

You're right....must have been C11NNT. That sound more possible? I'll try and dig up some of the pics......
