Mondeo, Insignia, BMW 3, etc?

I like the look of the current S40, but they just seem a little small compared to their rivals (which i associate with not being as comfortable on motorway slogs).

Is my viewpoint justified?

The S40 is based on the Focus, so its a size smaller then the Mondeo, etc. The S60 might be a better comparison

Not a bad car but as said, based on a focus. Not what I would call a wafter but equally it's nt quite a sharp as a focus IMO

Volvo S40 was absolutely the worst car I've ever owned. The list of faults in 3 years went on to 7 pages of A4. Put me off Volvos for life.

Yeah i know, i meant ride quality but waft just seemed easier.

I'd be looking at something bigger.

I really like the S40, but there's no getting away from the fact that the (old) Focus platform was far from being the most refined car in the class - and the (current) Mondeo is streets ahead.

(The Mondeo is a very refined and nicely finished car these days)
