Problems with DVLA online Car Tax.... Online Fraudsters?

I've tried 5 times over the last 4 days to pay for online car tax. When I put the card details in it just freezes and that's it. Got a call today from the Banks fraud team and have told me my details have been obtained by fraudsters and to destroy my card... couldn't be sure where they took my details but pretty sure that have not disclosed card details (security code etc)via any other payments since before Christmas?? Coincidence....???
