So who would you guys say sells the best quality fuel, and does it really make a difference to MPG and driving quality? I've always thought it was Shell, so try to fill up there whenever possible.

Also, have any of you used fuel cleaning agents like Redex? (http://www.diy.com/nav/build/motoring-workshop-tools/car-care-oils/addatives/Redex-Injector-Cleaner-9218029&tmcampid=4&tmad=c&ecamp=cse_go?CAWELAID=782801633)
If so, what do you think about it?

AFAIK most garages sell the same unleaded product, from the same refinery and distribution plants smile

Dunno, I've heard of people complaining that they get 5% less mpg when filling up at Tesco - lol

I used to get 60 miles a tank more on Esso diesel than I did Shell. I've said this before & it's always been taken with a pinch of salt, but it's true & not a one off or coincidence or my imagination etc. I don't drive for a living any more so don't take note of mileage like I used to, but this was fact up until at least early 2011.

Never found a difference between Tesco, Asda, BP, Shell, but the one time I used Sainsbury's SUL, I found it to rob me of 30 or so miles, over a 300 mile range.
Texaco I've generally found to be the best, but then ours has Techron additive, unlike the mainland's.
It's the same chemistry as BG Products' 44K, which I have used to good effect.

I thought that Sainsbury's use BP's supplies

Shell and funnily enough total excellium give the best performance - as for miles from a tank? Don't give a st and can't be arsed to keep note and I always forget to reset my trip anyway- worst performance in my car has been sainsburys and I stopped using bp after a stty batch messed up my 190 cosworth. I used to love esso fuel but it isn't easily accessible round my way

Use shell in both cars, never had an issue. MPG isn't a consideration so dont really look. Plenty of friends cars run absolutely fine on Tesco 99. Mine does run better on Shell though.

Given the choice and availability i would use some of the 102 ron they have in Europe.

While were discussing petrol, is it me or has V Power dropped in price? I filled up for £1.36.9 the other day- i am sure it was £1.44 not long ago!

I use either Tesco Momentum or Shell V-Power and notice no difference between the two.

I've always used shell v-power,

on fifth gear, many moons ago they dyno'ed a sub impreza after filling this up with different fuel (diff brands and diff octane no's)

the result was shell v-power being the best in terms of performance, on an approx 250bhp car I think using v-power over say asda normal unleaded made a significant 20-30bhp difference! So make of that what you will, no idea about mpg differences though wink

I've been recording how many miles I get to a tank recently.
Last tank I filled up with V Max and I got about 40 miles less than usual.
