Mini Cooper D vs Cooper SD
Discussion
(Mods - please don't move to New Mini forum, it's really quiet in there!)
Looking at running a Mini for a few years. The idea is to have something fairly frugal that's still a pleasant place to sit and doesn't cost a huge amount per month. I drove the Cooper D and SD back to back last week and they both tick plenty of boxes. Not sure, though, whether the SD is really worth the extra £3,600 it will cost me personally to have it (i.e. in increased BIK and fuel costs). But it is really amusingly rapid.
My commute is 10 miles of B-roads then 10 miles of motorway into central Bristol and the car would rarely be used for anything else. The D is not slow by any means, but there's something about the SD's ability to quietly and effortlessly get you into licence losing territory that appeals.
Any views either way?

1.6 CooperD versus the 2.0 CooperSD....
It's all down to you really, they're both entertaining drives, one just acing much more oomph than the other. Will the extra £3600 cause you an issue? If you go for the Cooper, will you wish you'd bought the S?
Only you can decide.
Don't stretch yourself too thin though, you'll regret buying the S if it causes you issues financially...
