hit a massive pot hole last night on a road outside of work.
amazingly the wheel/suspension seems fine. the windscreen isnt. it's developed a crack coming from the a pillar on the passenger side-on the side i hit the hole.
i used the insurance for a legit, ie stone impact incident last year so would prefer to get some taxes back from ealing council. any ideas on how likely the roads department will accept this mechanism of damage-ie force of impact has travelled through the chassis causing the glass damage?

got a claim goin through at the minute for this, already turned me down because the road was checked 28 days before mrs 400 drove in to what eventually turned out to be a 30ft long 2 ft wide trench on the side of the road.

needless to say the letter came sat morning i was on the phone the following monday at 9am, lodging my appeal, still waitin to hear back thou.

Hi
I believe that councils will only pay out on pot holes that are a certain depth.
You will have to take a picture of the pot hole showing how deep it is!
Normally they will fill it in once they get a complaint. So you will have to be quick
If you threaten with small claims court you will need the photographic evidence along with a statement from your mechanic saying that the impact caused the damage.
Have you looked closely at the wheel to see if it has split or buckled?

I've had little success claiming this sort of stuff too. "My" pothole was on the southbound approach to the Blackwall tunnel, and everything 'seemed' OK with the wheel and suspension. I later had a MOT fail because one of the suspension bushes was b*****ed and when the tyre was up for replacement, the inside rim of the alloy had a huge flat on it. New wheel needed.

Have stuff properly checked and do it when the hole's still there. Otherwise you have no chance.
