New Years Eve Trafalger square - where to park to get tube?

My wife had one of her moments and wants to spend the celebrations near big Ben. We are travelling from West Mids...
Where should we park? We have been told Wembley is best and then to get the tube in...
I gather North London is best due to easy access from M1. Can anyone advise?

If you're coming from 'up North' then dump the car at Stanmore and take the Jubilee line down.
It's about 30-35 mins to get to Westminster, however they may have to close the station due to overcrowding (especially once the fireworks are over) but it's a fairly short walk to Waterloo or Southwark.

He's right, don't do it. Get a private party on a boat, there are plenty either static or cruising up and down the Thames that you can see the London eye fireworks from. NYE in Trafalgar Sq!
They aren't cheap so if that's not an option I'd suggest staying at home.
Really, it's hell.
You'll be jammed in, unable to move for hours, lots of utterly s
te faced people all over, topped off with a few villains out for a nights pick pocketing and mugging of all the pissed out of towners.I did Westminster bridge about 7 years ago, big mistake.

Well if you must .... Once in a lifetime.As others have said, it will be mayhem. You'll have to get there very early, be prepared to be jostled in huge crowds, will probably see very little (what is there to see?) and then travel home amongst huge crowds. When leaving afterwards it's better to walk to a more distant station than try to get into the nearest along with 500,000 other people.
And make sure you leave all valuables at home, carrying only essentials and tucked away in an inside pocket.
By the way, AFAIK you can't actually see (or hear in a noisy crowd) Big Ben from Trafalgar Square. It's at the opposite end of Whitehall and hidden by tall buildings when you're standing at ground level.
New years eve in central London is st. I took my wife there as a first date to try to impress her with local knowledge, but spent the whole time apologising about being herded like cattle and not being able to see anything. In the end we went to a pub and watched the fireworks on tv.
