Car for 3 car seats
Discussion
57 plate 2.0tcdi smax titanium with 65k miles for £10 k or 08 grand c4 Picasso with 28k miles for 8k. What would you go for?
Test drove both, smax the best and nicest car. C4 was ok and quite good from a quirky point of view, but I wonder if the novelty would quickly wear off?

Never driven the S-max so I can't comment on it but we've got a Grand Picasso for the family run about and I must say I really do like it.Test drove both, smax the best and nicest car. C4 was ok and quite good from a quirky point of view, but I wonder if the novelty would quickly wear off?

I find it so easy and relaxing to drive and it is surprisingly quite grippy. Mind you it's not a car you take down country roads as the body roll is actually quite funny.
I find the interior very well laid out and think it's great that nearly all the controls are all on the steering wheel. The only time you need to take your hands off the wheel is for the temperature control but they're very cleverly put next to the drivers air vent on the right side with the passenger having their own controls on the left side.
Build quality wise it's actually quite good. All the places that will get abused the most seems to be pretty decent. However some of the plastics in other places that are out of the way are questionable.
Had it for 6 months now and don't really have any issues with it.
i thought about the FRV as I had a civic and like the 2.2 diesel engine but i'm not sold on the 6 seat layout. Whilst the middle seat in the front could be a good naughty kid backup, I'd rather have the kids in the back and couldnt really see us using it.

I read lots of owner reviews and have been suprised how positive they are with regards to reliability (and practicality). There seem to be a few electric niggles- bulbs blowing, eratic instant mpg calculators, but the car seems mechancially reliable. Most of the owners seemed not too fussed about the niggles, presumably because of the cheap cost and practicality. decisions, decisions. Peugeot 807 - try one. We looked at every single people carrier, test drove them all, needing 3 seats accross the second row (the 807 is a 7 or 8 seater with removable seats in the boot) and the 807 was the best specced, has the electric slidey doors which are wicked, and drives like a car.
My last few cars have been 300+BHP and I still love driving the 807 - must say something.

The Diesel has the usual DPF issues if it doesn't get a decent run.
The Automatics are actually automatic manuals. They are prone to becoming very jerky and hesitant. However I do believe with the latest software upgrades these issues might have been fixed.
Post June 2008 Petrol's have engines that were co-designed with BMW.
