Spotted this on ebay whilst checking what mine might be worth. It is identical apart from having the sunroof (mine doesn't and is an 02)

No bids so far and low mileage too, well worth a look with less than a day to go!

I was watching that and I thought it went cheap, I quite fancy one of that sort of spec.

I am in Cornwall so need to buy closer to home but there is no hurry, a lot of car for peanuts really.

If only one like that had popped up when buying mine 18 months ago. Prices really have tumbled and people expect it to be thirsty, but it really isn't smile

I was wondering about these as a bargain. Most 4 wheel drive stuff seems to go for a premium at the mo. I fancied an A4 quattro but couldn't find much for around £2k.

Apart from mpg and being a bit oldmanish, I guess they go pretty well being based on the Mondeo?

Are they chain or cambelt? Do they fall apart easily?

Bad timing for a sale, high road tax cost (£430), and maybe it's started whining from below wink

Blimey, I went in a diesel taxi one of these and was surprised by how refined it was and the nice interior. I'd imagine the 3.0 is rather nice indeed. Tiny mileage.

Chain not belt, goes like hell (0-60 is 6.6 iirc), the only bits which go are the transfer box and diff.
Servicing is standard Ford stuff although the engine is not a Mondeo unit, it has VVC. Only around 18% is non-bespoke.
It's a lovely drive, very comfy seats, decent sound system and very useful size boot.

MPG = low 20s in town.

High 30s to low 40s driving gently on a run
Mid 30s making sensible progress and not hanging about
High 20s to low 30s making a lot of progress wink

You don't need to rev it to make it go 2-2.5k is plenty. Over 3k things pick up and it will rev cleanely all the way up to 70 in 2nd...

Friend of mine bought one of these for £2650 last year. 02 reg in black, all the toys plus leather and Sat Nav. He'd been looking for one exactly like this for a few months, and one came up in Liverpool. Only 70000 miles, and on the journey back he found it also had a car phone, which wasn't mentioned in the ad. All in all, a good buy, and he reckons its the best car he's owned so far.

All of it is non-bespoke!

18% Ford parts bin, 82% Jaguar parts bin, but mass produced all the same.

Sorry mate it isnt, that tax band only affects car's made after march 2006.
This car being a 2001 makes it £260.

You know what I mean. It's not as much Mondeo as the uninformed would have people believe.

These cars are amazing value and out perform most hot hatches. I sold my recently serviced 52-plate 3.0 Manual SE for less than the car in the OP. It's silly that people rule them out because they consider them to be "just a Mondeo".
